Confection - comprised of vocalist Juanita Tippins and multi-instrumentalist Josh Beagley - may be Australia’s best kept boogie/nu-disco secret, but plenty of dance floors from Sydney to Paris, London and New York have been pulsing with Confection’s timeless groove and their unique sweet funk sound since their debut album in 2008. Confection’s sound harkens unashamedly back to classic 80’s acts like The S.O.S Band, Prince, Janet Jackson and Evelyn “Champagne” King but fliters these influences through a modern aesthetic. Confection compounds a lifetime of influences with producer Josh Beagley’s background in the Australian funk and soul world as a member of 90‘s popfunkers SWOOP and guitarist with the enigmatic freakfunkers Professor Groove and The Booty Affair, while singer Juanita Tippins has recorded with an amazing list of Australian talent ranging from Koolism to You Am I to Jimmy Barnes
