Convenient Love is an Australian duo of Steven Flynn and Bec Tapp. Bec has a background in dance and performance, is a published poet, and an extraordinaire when it comes to the word. Steven is yet another DJ who has crossed over to the dark side of music production (luckily he did so 7 years ago when it wasn’t so much of a fad). Despite the obvious typecasting of such a background, he is looking to stretch the mould of the DJ/producer stereotype. The sound: Electro grit mixed with a dash of ethereal 80s reverb laden analogue synth awesomeness. Alikened to the obscure epic spaciousness of The Knife, bearing some similarities to the transient qualities of Orbital, while remaining chilled out in the realm of Tosca. Convenient Love resonates some of the rhythmic details evident in the likes of beat masters such as Aphex Twin and endeavours to achieve a cool mixture of hard and soft as in the scope of acts like Underworld.
