Our name is Criminal Mint and we are a rock band in Year 11 that have been playing together for 3 years. In the beginning, our sound steered more towards pop genres and recent hits. However, we gained a love for rock music and old classics, and our genre was influenced to become rock/alternative/grunge. Our recent original song, “The Poison”, was one of our first attempts at creating a rock song ourselves, rather than playing our usual covers. The song’s lyrics were inspired by drug addiction amongst teenagers and how this can take over a person’s motivations. Lines, such as “You can’t change me, can’t save me”, were chosen to bring light upon the feeling of being stuck in a cycle that feels impossible to escape from, despite the help you may receive from those around you.
