Melbourne’s Cumbia Cosmonauts are at the forefront of the growing global phenomena Nueva Cumbia and Tropical Bass, their distinctive sound combining Caribbean offbeat rhythms with raw Afro club vibes, Jamaican dub elements, a sci-fi aesthetic, and ultimately an infectious shuffle-beat anyone can dance to. Producers Moses Iten (a.k.a. Saca La Mois DJ!!) and Thomas “Soup” Campbell are joined on stage by percussionist El Mas and Phaic VJ, making each live show is a unique visual and sonic adventure featuring lasers, synthesizers, spacey surf guitar, vivid visuals and silver jumpsuits. The Cumbia Cosmonauts supported Gotan Project, Thievery Corporation and DJ Krush on their recent Australian tours, and are about to embark on their second tour of Europe.
