Cylinders is the new pop guise for Matty Vehl (Bombay Royale/Charles Jenkins & The Zhivagos/Clare Bowditch & the New Slang), The 'Communion‘ EP is the debut release. Tales of global claustrophobia, intergalactic survival and the barely submerged impulses capsizing beneath the surface of daily routine are presented in glares of vocal multi-tracking, reminiscent of Bowie and Lennon. Vintage analog synths and organs combine with drums both live & programmed to evoke a restless, synth-pop topography of glam prowl, cold wave menace and phantasmagoric futurism: ‘Kosmic shimmer-synth luxury pop for recurring future discotheque dreams’. Produced in Melbourne by beat radical Dan West (Mantra, OUTPOST, Sylent Runnings, Diafrix) and graced with ominous off-world artwork by Luke Fraser, the EP is out now online and in stores, followed by a limited edition 12” Vinyl release and tour scheduled for August 2012.
