Dave Moss grew up in Sydney, Australia, on the right side of the wrong tracks. He smashed his first guitar at thirteen (accidentally stepped on it if the truth be known). He went on to be a founding member of some of the most influential Australian psychedelic/pop bands of the nineties (The Welcome Mat, The Woodies, The NDP). Growing up, he was attracted to the music of Neil Young, Joe Henry, Buffalo Springfield, Tim Buckley, then English pop bands of the 1990’s (ie XTC, Squeeze). More recent influences include Wilco, Ryan Adams, Ray Lamontagne, Harry Manx, and many of the current crop of Brooklyn-based ‘new folk’ bands including Grizzly Bear, My Morning Jacket, and the discovery of the Brooklyn scene seemed to crystallise his attraction to the ‘new’ folk/roots music. In 2005, Dave ended up working as a doctor in Emergency Rooms, but, sick of the endless trauma, he recently threw it all in, and moved to Byron Bay, an area rich in musicians and musical heritage.
