During the writing process of the EP I went through a dark period of depression which eventually led to suicidal tendencies. At the peak of my depression I decided to vent through music and I recorded a song called 'Death is Near.' Once I finished recording I felt as though I had the choice of either choosing to overdose on my medication or pick up my phone and reach out to family for help. Fast forward to that evening, I decided to share my recording on Facebook and was extremely overwhelmed by the love and support I received from family, friends and even strangers. The last song on my 4 track EP is titled 'Death is Far' which talks about the entire journey of my depression thus far, including how important it was for me to reach out to family and friends and that it was okay to not face this alone. Creating music and specifically this EP, has helped with expressing my struggles with mental health, as well as realising music has helped give purpose to my life.
