Dan Hack's melodic and bespoke pop music is crafted with thoughtful arrangements and production. His inspired songwriting is realized with tasteful guitar phrasing, organic and electronic instrumentation, and topped off by a visceral and agile voice. A self-confessed student of song, he lives and breathes music as evidenced though the songwriting on his latest EP, ‘TORERO’. Widely drawn influences from the likes of Elvis Costello, KD Lang, Tom Waits, Todd Rundgren, David Bowie, XTC and the Beatles can occasionally be referenced, while country, folk, and world music also inform his creative process. After years spent honing his skills on country, rock, and experimental electronica, he went on to front Brisbane-based art-rock bands Maakheru, Big Empty Circle, and later Lovejoy. Several well received CDs were released, supported by shows up and down the east coast of Australia, with Lovejoy continuing to play to packed venues. Dan moved with his family to beautiful Tasmania, with a purpose-built recording studio providing the creative space to continue writing and recording. He has released a collection of songs as an EP called 'Torero', possibly his best work to date. He has recently completed recording his first solo album to be released soon.
