Newcastle-based rising talent Dan Southward has quickly captivated audiences with the power of his shows. As a performer Southward brings to life his stories of the lost and found and the things that exist in between. He draws on his audience and leads them on an earnest journey through the rawness of trail and torment to places beyond. “I only ever write from a place of need. It’s a definite need for relief and expression. The songs often mark times or events in my life or others, and to be able to return to those memories with perspective each time I perform is quite satisfying” Southward said. Early this year Southward released his debut studio record Water and Wine, which clearly captures the performer’s love of storytelling.
