Winner Age Awards 2013 - Best Country Album Winner Rhythm Mag 2012 - Debut Album of the Year Why the hell hasn’t someone told me about Dan Waters before now? There’s Henry Wagons, Jordie Lane and The Audreys’ Tristan Goodall all singing his praises on the album bio, and yet his voice blooms sonorous and brave from this record in a complete revelation to me! Reportedly, Melbourne-based Waters quit his job at 30 and left for Nashville. Back in Melbourne, he hooked up with Mark Dawson of Wagons and the two began working up this gem of an album, eventually enlisting assistance from other Wagons members Chad Mason and Si Francis, Goodall, singing group The Nymphs and pedal steel guitarist Seamus O’Sullivan. Instrumentally La Vita E’Bella is a triumph of taste and tone, but it is Waters’ seemingly ancient voice that strikes the listener first. And it never loses its grasp, thanks to its beguiling timbre and a collection of colourful stories.
