It's three men who come from distinct and varied musical backgrounds who were drawn to each other's ways of seeing and interpreting music and ideas. Associated with many of the bands who call (Brunswick Community Arts Warehouse) Irene their spiritual home, as well as the melting pot that is Brunswick and surrounds. Dance Contest is about finding meaning and critiquing people and ideas around us while not getting too fucking serious about it. That's why it doesn't always seem to make sense, or is disguised by crap metaphors, or has no words just inspiring and exciting music to dance to and throw things. The world IS a Dance Contest. When Politicians line up to say "Pick Me!", it's a fucking dance contest with no second prize. When animals, including humans, do their thing to attract other creatures to them, it's a giant and convoluted dance contest. Sometimes they actually dance. When corporate entities dangle carrots for us to buy, they do a little multi-billion dollar dance
