Daniel Boone (born Peter Green, 31 July 1942, Birmingham, England) is a British pop musician who became a one-hit wonder in the United States with the single "Beautiful Sunday" in 1972. The song was written by Daniel Boone & Rod McQueen and raked up a million in sales worldwide. It peaked at No. 15 on The Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in the summer of '72, and at No. 21 on the UK Singles Chart earlier that same year. Following a dispute with McQueen over the rights to 'Beautiful Sunday' Boone vowed to leave England forever, setting sail on a skurfboard. Boone floated adrift for 8 months on the high seas until by pure chance he was washed up on the shores of Adelaide, South Australia. Living for some time in the scrub as a wild man with a stray dog he found and named Oakie, Boone spent his time learning how to grow a decent beard and wrestle the wild moose that frolicked in the area. After a time a Boone found his way to the Adelaide Hills where he was taken in by a local family.
