A musician from the age of 3, much of Melbourne songwriter/producer Daniel Joshua's first exposure came through a series of bootleg remixes under the name ‘Droptail’. With the likes of Gilles Peterson and Plastician among the admirers, radio play in Australia and the UK led to an official remix for Vance Joy’s ‘Mess Is Mine’. Despite these accolades, something felt missing from his music; he felt it lacked his own identity. Imbued by his exposure to the likes of James Blake, Aphex Twin and Thom Yorke, Joshua became increasingly invested in working transformative textures into his compositions. A formative period living North Carolina served as the catalyst for more development, reclaiming his middle name as part of his musical identity. Hailed by Trouble Juice for his “otherworldly electronic-tinged art pop”, and featured in Dummy Mag and Spotify official playlists, his glassy ambience and vibrant instrumentation is indicative of an artist finally comfortable his own skin.
