Daniel Reeve is an independent artist and producer from Sydney. His signature brand of alternative pop is driven by an obsession with maximalism in music, utilizing dense wordplay, exaggerated performances, and hyper-populated mixes to ensure there is never a dull moment. Daniel gravitated towards music at a young age. As a child he would spend hours sitting at his grandparents’ piano, teaching himself melodies and tunes by ear. His interest in writing lyrics began at the age of 14 when he discovered the musical comedy of Tim Minchin and Bo Burnham. On a whim, Daniel decided to enter the national Class Clowns competition at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2017. He eventually took home first prize for his musical comedy. Daniel spent his final year of highschool writing, directing and recording a short musical podcast drama titled “Earth To Eric''. During this time he taught himself to record and edit audio with minimal resources. Daniel began studying at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2020, where he continued developing as an independent artist. During the 2021 Covid lockdown, he shot and edited a music video from his bedroom over two months. He used this video to release his first single Grow Up & Cry. As Daniel’s production and songwriting abilities developed, he eventually released his second single HONEY in 2022. Daniel’s proudest achievement is his debut EP NEWCOMER, which was written and produced in his bedroom studio throughout 2023. The project provides broad cultural commentary and introspective themes delivered to audiences in a vibrant, bright coloured, hyper-pop package.
