Darktown are purveyors of fine original alternative country music, it’s members have played in bands including The Roseannas, Driftwood, Carrie and the Cut Snakes, Midnight Son and the Crime Scene and NZ Flying Nun Records legends The Able Tasmans. Darktown had it’s beginnings on a Holland Park back verandah in 2012 when singer-song writer Brendan Hogan played some of his Songs to guitarist and former band mate Chris Patterson. Soon Drummer Stu Greenway and Bassist Brad Wright were on board and the band Darktown River was born. Darktown River recorded an EP and played a few gigs around Brisbane before going on Hiatus back in 2013 then recently reforming as Darktown back in January this year. The Band’s most recent addition is Pedal Steel, Banjo and Dobro player Joe Cryle, son of legendary Brisbane folkster Mark Cryle and a very talented musician and tasteful player in his own right.
