DARREN MIDDLETON is best known from his previous life as guitarist and songwriter for Australian band, POWDERFINGER. The much loved POWDERFINGER played their last ever show in late 2010 and unsurprisingly Darren spent a bit of the time in a creative and emotional wilderness. For the last 20 years, this band was as much who he was as what he did. As the dust settled Darren started working as a producer from his new home in the creative hub that is Melbourne town. This is where the first seeds were planted for his debut solo album ‘Translations’. ‘Translations’ is classic alternative pop music that lives somewhere in the world between Beatles and Elliot Smith. In 2015, Darren hit the road with Guy Pearce and played sold out shows all over the country, reestablishing his presence in the music world. He then went on to release his second album ‘Splinters’ featuring performances by good friends Missy Higgins and Sahara Beck. Performing across the country, including on The Today Show, his journey continued. November 2016 saw Darren release his third EP ‘Lightning Halos’, an EP featuring a stunning instrumental track called 'Ghosts' and the gorgeous ‘Fly Away’. He has since performed at the NRL Semi Grand Final, A Day on the Green (with Rob Thomas and Pete Murray), Peninsula Picnic (with Missy Higgins and Kim Churchill) and many more. 2018 saw the release of his 3rd solo album 'TIDES', again featuring many guests and acclaimed songs. Early 2023 holds the next release, 'HOME'...songs written and recorded in the homes of many people around Australia (and overseas - Suzie Quatro guest bass appearance) Middleton says "Music has always been about people to me, the sharing and caring in our lives, both trouble and joy. I always seek to excavate my own life in order to understand other people, as we are not so different"
