DAY SPA is a Sydney-based electronica outfit consisting of brother and sister, Esther Rose and Julius Gibson. Influenced by the sounds of Four Tet, Deep Forest, Fever Ray, Massive Attack and Bjork, many of their songs explore the dichotomies and general madness of life. Eerie harmonies weave in and out of gritty electronic beats and earthy soundscapes, as their music hits on an abstract longing unique to the human experience. Themes of isolation, darkness and chaos are met with the redemptive power of nature. Day Spa started was formed out of a collaboration with electronic artist Francois Svalis (who has performed with Jon Hopkins, Goldfrapp and Mantocliff) on a track called Breath, which has been very popular internationally, and remixed by a number of DJs including Steffen Kirchhoff, Emseatee, and Frank Hellmond.
