Dead Ears are a 4 piece Sydney-based band who have just completed their debut self-titled album. Formed in 2012, Dead Ears’ album has been a year and a half in the making. The band was formed by lead singer Jimme Armstrong who, as a DJ, supported such acts as Portishead, Groove Armada, Crazy P, Diplo and INXS. Following a successful tour of Europe, Jimme decided in 2011 to turn his energies to an album away from the manufactured dance music that had become redundant on the local scene. He felt that music was being served up to consumers and that the public were listening with ‘Dead Ears’. He decided to write an album to get back to the roots of authentic music (think Radiohead, Interpol, and early 90’s Brit Pop). He met up with Steeve Body (who has worked with The Mars Volta and De La Soul), and produced an album that encapsulates a unique blend of soaring guitars and keyboards, with inventive lyrics and harmonies. The musicianship is intricate, without losing it’s Pop-Sensibility.
