Forming mid 2008 and rehearsing ever since, Sydney’s Dead Muppets have been carefully crafting and creating their own brand of anthemic and visceral indie rock blended with emotional waverings and ethereal soundscapes over the last year to deliver one of the tightest, intimidating and spine tingling sets to be unleashed on the Sydney live scene in many, many years. An amalgamation of comparisons could be made for the bands sound, throwing around names like: Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, the obligatory Jeff Buckley and Radiohead and arena friendly U2, Coldplay and Kings Of Leon, yet Dead Muppets take all these ingredients and rehash and re-assemble them as their own, bringing a musical diversity and maturity not found in many new bands. Comprising of Singer/Songwriter Lex Luther on guitar and brother’s separated at birth, bass player Jack Richards and skin smasher Matt Cole rounding out the rhythm section, the band combined have a number of years and a number of bands between them.
