Death Mountain is a recently-formed three-piece from the inner west of Sydney. Energetic, technical, and deeply melodic, the band draws as much from the math rock and post-hardcore of the 90s (e.g. Heavy Vegetable, Braid) as it does from the riffage of bands like Iron Maiden and Van Halen. Its members have been rattling around in well-respected punk and indie bands for a number of years, including Lungs, Collapso, Animal Shapes, Staying at Home, and The Reason. The drummer cut her teeth in various outfits while living in Sweden, including the punk rock band Den Tredje Handen. For a new band, Death Mountain has already hit a serious pace, having supported Canada's Propagandhi, US bands Boysetsfire and Bad Astronaut, and having played with Totally Unicorn, Apart From This, and Grenadiers. Death Mountain has also just finished its first record, "Volcanic Panic"—a full-length album recorded and mixed by Dylan Adams (Sticky Fingers, DMA's, Lo!, Epics) and mastered by Alan Douches at
