Deep Friars mix bold alt/math rock instrumentation with storytelling more typically found in folk songs. Routinely genre mashing additional flavours from gospel, metal and prog, the punk ballad singalongs get zesty quickly. The band have built a reputation for tight, technical, theatrical live shows, bursting with gregarious energy and disarming honesty. Devised in 2020 by 4 of Hobart's busiest and quirkiest players, Deep Friars have been hard at work in the kitchen, poised to drop their debut EP 'Befriending Birds, Singing with Snakes' this November, filled with tales of hope and grief against the backdrop of Tasmania's forests, streets and beaches.
