It's been a long 5 years since the birth of DIRTOLOGY in 2007; but the band that promoters and others alike said wouldn't survive has, longer and stronger then many of their contemporaries. Now a four piece, their live shows are as energetic and frantic as they ever were, with the same live power and purity in its aggression and energy. After 5 years they're still labelled the loudest, heaviest and best live band on the coast. DIRT is the brainchild of Producer Ali Adriano and Instrumentalist Andy Brown. Pushing herself to explore new sounds, specifically with incorporating live instruments and learning to record them herself with different microphone techniques, Ali delved into this new project recording from her bedroom studio. As a solo producer, Ali garnered attention early on with her electronic ambient pop releases, winning Triple J’s Nick Littlemore songwriting competition. Like her previous releases, DIRT maintains a cinematic and emotive sound yet leans itself to a much more raw, grungy, DIY aesthetic. Heavily inspired by the “beach late at night”, the duo hope their music evokes similar feelings.
