Christopher J – Artist Dirty Black, AKA Chris J, was born June 23rd 1982 in Dothan, Alabama and has now officially moved to Melbourne Australia. Learning early that life can deal difficult blows, his two loves, basketball and music, rescued him from falling victim to the streets. With a basketball scholarship on offer, and professional scouts taking an interest in his hard work and skill, the young Chris J was on his way towards his dream of playing basketball professionally. But tragedy struck when his older brother lost his life. Whilst Chris’ love of basketball remained, his love of playing became a distant memory and his energies were directed towards the self-expression and voice, a musical career offered. “Rap is not just a way of rhyme, it’s life's expression of me. “ The unbearable loss of his brother and role model, became the inspiration that wakes Chris J up every morning pushing him to go that extra mile, stay that extra hour, and work that much harder.
