A personal reflection of Love, Loss and Life- Sydney artist Doll Face bring you their Debut record Cottonmouth. Written over several months of solitude, travelling between a family home in Seattle Washington, a farm in rural Idaho and a stint in Sydney hotel quarantine, Doll Face took the time as an opportunity to look within. Evident in the songs Sit down, Madeline, Holly and It’s gone cold, Cottonmouth delves into the emotional turbulence of relationships, explores the darker grasps of mental health, then ends with a resolve and a look to the future. Drawing inspiration from the surrounding landscapes; the snowy mountains of Idaho, the endless greenery of the Pacific Northwest and the claustrophobic walls of a hotel, Doll Face worked constructing melancholic sounds seamlessly joining them with captivatingly personal lyrics akin to the stories of Lee Hazlewood, Lou Reed and Kevin Morby. Recorded at friend and drummer Shaun Gaida’s studio Rancho Relaxo in Austinmere NSW and mastered by Grammy award-winning mastering engineer William Bowden (The Church, Gotye, The Middle East) Cottonmouth is a record that is honest, open and a true tale of romance and tragedy. Due for a string of shows in the upcoming months Doll Face are sure to intrigue those who come across.
