36, Male, Melbournite. Almost no formal musical training (drums @ 8years old, piano @ 10 - dropped both) but I come from a media, theatrical background. Mum was a Yiddish theatre actress, dancer and teacher while Dad was a Flamenco guitarist and teacher. I've always loved music and its ability to take you elsewhere, how it can remove the world around and replace it with another world entirely. I was into music as a fan from a very young age and found The Beatles to be a great source of comfort in my early years, "Here Comes the Sun" still brings a swell of emotions each time I hear it. I was prettty much a commercial listener with a UK bent (Petshop Boys, New Order etc) until someone (Hi Claire!) turned me onto The Smiths in 1987, from then on I scoured every record store from coast to coast to find whatever other indie, punk and electronica gems I could. My biggest thrills, musically, were seeing Ben Folds Five's first and last (fittingly both in St. Kilda) concerts in Melbourne.
