Elena Dakota is an Adelaide born, Western Australia, Northern Territory flotsam. A moving part of Adelaide bands Hummingbird, Introduction!, Rex Wonderful and the Silk Sheets and the Maraby Band, Elena also had a long running electronic pop solo project Allume. Under her own name, she creates lo-fi folk songs imbued with a plainness and clear emotional sincerity, singing of the mundane and small moments, made big by magnification. Elena just released her second album in early 2023, titled River Record, through Los Angeles cassette label Cudighi Records. "Dakota's husky vocals deliver a homely narrative laden with rich but simple imagery — weaving a sonic tapestry full of gravitas that comes from her voice and layers of harmonies and timbres. River Record is eight tracks of artful contemporary folk that harks back to classic 1970s influences and Americana while forging its unique narrative." - RTR FM 92.1, Perth
