Made up of Bass, Drums and Synthesizer, ELEPHANT create a melodic alternate rock sound that is complimented by dual Vocals. With disregard to common song structure the trio experiment with unnatural rhythms and non-standard rock sounds. Due to a dominant synthetic rumbling and the abandonment of the standard rock guitar the trio have evolved a style of music which is unique in both approach and execution. Adam Cowling and Troy Barrow (Ex-Spazmoo) create solid bass and rhythm constructions that are collected with the digitised sounds and vocal explosions of Gerant Kenneth (Ex-Schlauncher). Between Troy's absurd and precise rhythms, Adam's accelerated bass coupled with his melodic, let it all hang out approach to vocalisation and Gerant's chainsaw like assault to live performance, the audience is more than often surprised to find such an enormous and varied sound produced by just three musicians.

Silence With The Sun/Silence With The Earth Is the third album from Melbourne musician James Locke under the elephant moniker. Over time this particular outlet has solidified in theme, style and ambition, aiming to create a sound both expansive & intimate, with a stong sense of place. This is a homemade pop album, a whole and imperfect.
