Joely is a hip hop songwriter and artist based in Perth, Western Australia. Unlike many in the Australian Hip Hop scene, Joely is widely influenced by American Hip Hop and RnB which is evident in his music. Joely started writing lyrics at the young age of 13 for personal use and was never displayed or shown to anyone. Joely grew up in admiration of his idol Tupac, who inspired him to push forward with his writing. For a few years Joely had taken time away from the pen and the pad and focused on building his life. But in late 2012, sitting in the work car park Joely began to rap his original lyrics to a beat for his best mate James, who filmed it and put it on Facebook. Nervously Joely accepted as this was the first time he would have received real feedback on his ability to write and rap his own music. In difference to many hip hop artists Joely bases his music and lyrics on real events and problems of our world. Not generic in any aspect. Nothing but positive feedback was received
