The Birth of The Phoenix from the Ashes. It’s 2006. Matt, who has been studying classical piano for 6 years and singing in chorals for 2 years, started playing guitar to connect with his new love of 70/80’s rock and metal. James had also been playing piano for a number of years and decides to follow his love of Progressive Metal into studying Drums and Percussion. At the end of the year, talk amongst a number of friends turns towards forming a band. Early 2007, still a lot of talk and very little action. James finally organises a practise with Matt as a guitarist and vocalist. Disaster!!!!! Matt struggled at having to sing and play at the same time so a new singer was found in time for the band to play at the SPS battle of the bands. 4 weeks latter “Writings on the wall” finished 4th with an average age of 14. As most bands do, over the next few months the band dissolved and James and Matt started writing together. At the same time both also had other musical distractions with Matt
