With an EP and a string of remixes released under two different aliases through local indie label Dub Temple Records, 'Field Trips' is the penultimate step in the evolution of Sunshine Coast based producer Michael J Callanan as an experimental electronic artist. Inspired by his natural surrounds, vintage analogue sounds and obscure samples that evoke nostalgia, thoughts of love and the infinite diversity of emotions that life instills, his music also aims to capture both the juxtaposition and partnership of the past and present, by telling stories of lost ancient civilizations, future space exploration pre and post apocalypse, and travel - both inter-dimensionally and through time. Infuse that with a love for chunky bass and clunky offbeat future Hip Hop grooves laced with retro synth vibes, and you have FIELD TRIPS.
