If pop has eaten itself, Fingermae have come out the other end.
Fingermae are Newtown's premier Jazz Punk outfit. They formed in late 2016 and quickly became known for their ability to fill a quota as well as a fierce live show with a synergy between members that belies regular rehearsal. Fingermae like to rant about politics in a way that can make you dance, sprinkled with innuendo and a healthy dose of sarcasm. They also have fun songs. Fingermae released their debut album Cured Using Natural Therapies in 2016 and tried not to be too busy after that in case Midnight Oil called and needed an opener. They're back in 2019 with a new mission in life to spend all of their disposable income on releasing new music and playing outside of Newtown, where they are worshipped like gods and honestly struggle to just hang out without being harassed these days.
"...as if a set of fangs made a band." - The Underground Stage
