Edit history

Firm Filters are an indie rock/pop band formed in Naarm/Melbourne in the 2022, consisting of Rory Day (drums), Bradley Woodward (vocals/guitars/keys) and live bassist Jason Renehan. Their songs combine influences of rock, pop, folk, punk and indie music to create a defining sound that complements Woodward’s lyrics about working-class struggle and youth disillusionment. The band has their origins in Bendigo with Day and Woodward meeting as high school students and later collaborating in a previous band. After that band’s end, Day and Woodward joined forces with first bassist Flynn Lyle to develop and arrange Woodward’s backlog of original songs. The group spent 2022-23 playing iconic small venues across the city such as The Retreat, Mamma Chen’s, Cherry Bar and Old Bar. After Lyle’s departure at the end of 2023, the group took a hiatus from live performances to develop and record their first album. Now joined by Alice Springs musician Jason Renehan (who also regularly plays with iconic indigenous artist Frank Yamma), Firm Filters are back to performing and are now preparing to release their debut album ‘Scarves & Miracles’.
