Fret has been together for well over a decade releasing 6 albums and numerous EPs along the way. The current version of Fret has been together for three years; its best and most productive line-up. The members of Fret reside in various corners of the Sydney metro area, and invariably play in the Inner West suburbs of Sydney where its fanbase tends to congregate. The band includes former and current members of Tactics, Yapocks, The Night Packers, The Derros and Monkey Puzzle. It has been suggested that there are elements of Television, Talking Heads, Joy Division and Interpol in the Fret oeuvre, unconscious influences perhaps, but we tend to feel that we present a distinctive Fret sound. May 2024 sees the release of FRET's new digital EP Triple Reverb Backflip (Redux), harnessing FRET's unique post-punk / indie / neo-psychedelic sound and dabbling in themes of grief and loss, the perils of charismatic leadership, and the passive acceptance of relentless surveillance stealth. The wonderful cover art was created by Leonie Belshaw.
