Pete and Hayley play together in a rock band and formed their side project GAME OVER to explore a different angle of their musical interests. Their acoustic songs have the energy and emotion of rock but are performed on a smaller scale. It's an attempt to bring something fresh to the genre, rather than introducing another ‘pleasant’ Jack Johnson clone. Game Over’s track ‘The Resignation’ is a dark ballad about a man who, after a long and successful life, has re-evaluated his place in the world. He realises that the aspirations which drove him and the goals he achieved were for nothing and he seeks release. The energy in the climax of the song mirrors the man’s thoughts as he nears the end of his misery. Please note that this recording is only demo quality. It was done entirely on a laptop with a built-in mic and it hasn’t picked up Pete’s lower register too well. The volume is quite quiet, too. Bear this in mind when listening to and rating this track.
