Distrosub

Originally from Bendigo, songwriter and composer Gawain Davey now lives in Melbourne, drawn by the heady scent of endless live gigs and proper classical training. Strongly influenced by slow, thoughtful music, he uses piano and vocals in innovative and catchy ways. Over the years Gawain has played with various groups: sax/drums/vocals/piano with folk-rockers The Light Rail, funky sax with hip-hoppers Allganiks and Royalty Noise, more sax with Hayden Hack Infusion, clarinet melodies with local singer Matt Daniel from The Fold. Finally the truth is revealed: the whole time, he was working on piano/vocal music in the shadows. Here, on triple j unearthed, it is brought to light. In 2014, Gawain's orchestral piece Symphony GFC was reviewed in The Age. Currently he plays piano for Kia Moon. For more information and regular updates head to Gawain's Facebook page.
