Frequently described as the Duke Nukem Forever of Australian music, many people thought the debut album from Melbourne's explosive trio The Genie (also known for being half of The Cat Empire) would just never happen. And now, an unbelievably long time later, it's out. The musical fruit of their labours with producer Josh Abrahams is finally ready to be ingested. Here Come the Scissors is forty-nine minutes of the most terrifying chopdubexplosionjazztronic aural rollercoaster that you'll want to queue up for again straight away.

Genie is the the escapist solo work of Brisbane musician Maddie Lang who has been writing music for over 13 years in both Brisbane and London. Genie was born in 2019 after an unusual experience with a psychic medium who encouraged her to explore producing her own music. Her music is honest; it poetically explores themes of heartbreak, mental health, longing, self-doubt and loneliness. Genie's music is influenced by her choral background and utilises rich harmonies to add depth and emotion to her music.
