After serving an apprenticeship with veteran bluesman Dutch Tilders, Geoff Achison released his first solo album Big Machine in 1994 and held some long-standing residencies around Melbourne, notably at The Espy, St Kilda and St Andrews Hotel throughout the 90's. In 1995 Geoff represented the Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society at The Memphis Blues Challenge, USA and brought home the Albert King Award for his blues guitar skills. By 1997 Geoff had relocated to London and established himself on the UK scene. He later moved to Georgia in the USA and made his living playing the old juke joints all over the southern states. His original music was embraced by American scene with Geoff hiring local players to perform his music, and regularly invited join other musicians in kind. There were also many spontaneous blues jams, with Geoff famously recorded in New York City with the legendary Allman Brothers Band. Now based back in Melbourne, Geoff regularly brings his joyous and very danceable blues style to local venues, combining his wealth of experience and funky style with his all-star band 'The Souldiggers'. He continues to write and release new music on a regular basis.
