“Music gave me the opportunity to say things that I probably wouldn’t have normally said, and I couldn’t get in trouble because technically it was art.” The big blue eyes and cheeky smile that accompany this statement basically sum-up Georgia McDonald, an upcoming Australian artist. Originally trained from age 3 as a classical pianist, and age 9 as a classical flautist, it wasn’t until around 15 when she realised that singing and songwriting was where her passion lay. Georgia, now 22, has developed a unique style and her varied influences are a testament to this. Her vocal idols include Karen Carpenter and Bette Midler, and more recently Sara Bareilles, Michael Bublé and Adele. These artists have all impacted on, and helped her shape, her voice and style. Georgia’s sound belongs in the mainstream pop market; however, her voice and the eclectic influences evident within her music help her to stand out from the crowd. She has a distinctive voice, performs with honesty and joy, and
