Ghosts of York

Bio history

It was during a support slot for Arizona band Lydia that Ghosts of York realised they were on to something special. Despite being unknown to the packed mass that filled Sydney’s Spectrum, they had never experienced such a warm and rich reception from the music they created. Since then there have been countless other special gigs, from boozy Oxford Art Factories with The Mission In Motion to scorching festival sets with The Getaway Plan, not to mention intimate moments supporting Armor For Sleep’s Ben Jorgenson. Their success is partly due to being a “tight band with an infectious groove” (Sludge Factory – 29/05/11), but also because of the songs they write. Continually matching their contemporaries like Bombay Bicycle Club and Friendly Fires with their infectious Indie/Pop, Ghosts of York combine their even handed musical approach with the introspective and intelligent motifs of their strong New Wave influences; bands such as New Order and Tears for Fears. At the end of the day
