Gilmen is a 5 piece, punk/alternative band, based in Launceston, Tasmania. With a love for music and passion for performing, this bunch of mates became even closer as they began to write their own original music. The band has already recorded one of their songs 'Welcome to Pleasantville' and hope to release more of their own work in the near future. Our song 'Welcome to Pleasantville' is about a state of mind where a person blindly holds onto the idea of their perfect lifestyle, regardless of the inevitable life factors that make that impossible for it to be true. The original idea came from the instrumental aspect of our song. We all thought it gave a strong Tim Burton vibe and that it mirrored the creepy, gloomy feel of the plastic lifestyle in Edward Scissorhands which is how our song came to be what it is today.
