Giovanna Van Leeuwen is a composer, pianist and music educator based in Sydney. Her compositions are inspired by Biblical Themes and the natural world around us. Her debut piano album "EDEN" released in 2021 draws on the theme of Creation. A cycle of 8 piano pieces inspired by the Garden of Eden. Her new album (2026) "The Promised Land" features piano, cello and acoustic guitar, drawing on themes of transformation and the beauty of nature. She recently attained her 1st film score/credit: (2026) "Dove Waltz" which features on the documentary: Superstizioni Italiane - Directed by Ross Giannone She approaches composition through improvisation and combines both her knowledge of structured classical music and elements of jazz improvisation in creating instrumental music which captures the heart. Drawing on influences of romanticism and its lyrical melodies, rich jazz harmonies and the flowing and often ambience of film music she has created her own unique sound. Having held various teaching positions in Sydney she now has a position teaching piano and flute at a Montessori School in Balmain.
