Githmi is a Sri Lankan-Australian from Melbourne who started playing guitar at the age of 13 and has been playing music ever since. After spending the majority of lockdown in extreme contemplation, Githmi decided to record her songs that she had written over the past few years under a new solo act. Githmi decided to create an act under her own name, to ultimately create a space as a woman of colour. After becoming aware of the struggle musicians of colour experience, she strives to empower diversity in the indie rock music scene of Melbourne. Her debut track 'Don't Go Away' is a reflection upon a relationship - realising that there is a comfort in being needed by someone, even if it doesn't serve you well.
