Two lads from Wynyard in Tasmania's North-West formed Gnarly Burl to explore and create their original sounds within the confines of a swampy dark man cabin. A simple dare resulted in the pair winning a battle of the bands competition and playing at Tasmania's biggest Blues festival. Since then a Live Studio EP has been recorded and the duo have played many festivals around the state and have lined up many more. Ryan James pulls a range of new sounds from his custom Billy Tarrant guitars made from Tasmanian timbers such as Blackwood, Myrtle and Black Heart Sassafrass.
