GRAMPS began in 1995 in a shed in Port Fairy. Inspired by the boredom and weirdness surrounding them in their hometown, the teen punks began writing their own Rock & Power Pop anthems. A self-funded album recorded locally in 1998 gave birth to a wealth of local classics, but one song, 'Glitter-Eyed Girl,' was submitted to Triple J's Unearthed competition for the Warrnambool region, and won the competition, taking the members of GRAMPS to Sydney to re-record their song with engineer Cameron McCaulay (Triple J, You Am I). They disbanded at the beginning of 1999, to pursue other careers and study, and are now back 13 years later with a new record made in a beach house in Port Fairy.
