Grasstrees are a contemporary 4 piece band that play soulful rootsy music. The music is original and the sound of Grasstrees is particularly their own. With the sweet harmonica and slide guitar this band smacks of old style blues, but instead they have brought these roots to the present with a rock/pop influence. Grasstrees have recently completed their first CD, self titled, a lot of which was recorded live in the studio. Grasstrees came together initially when Manas Blackman and Ross Rudd met in 2003. Almost immediately they started writing together. The line up now also includes Scott Young(drums) and Marty Cusch(bass). The sound comes from four different sets of influences, Scott from a jazz background, having performed in everything from film score and stage to pubs to video and tv.
