Grey Bull left his country for Ethiopia with his family when his father got transferred for medical attention to Dimma Refugee camp hospital in 1989. It took them five days for a military convoy carrying his father to arrive in Ethiopia. At about two weeks later his father passed away leaving Grey Bull in the care of his single mother. Grey Bull was trained as a child soldier just like other students attending Dimma Refugee Camp primary school. His mother got no choice as it was the only option available for every parent who wants their children to go to school. It was a hard life in the training camp as we were constantly subjected to hard labour and extreme punishments in the name of army training, some die during training. We were not allowed to see our parents or even go to market to buy anything and anyone caught in the market was bitterly beaten and imprison for weeks.
