By starting slow and building up, like any good tune, Grey Stills have become a potent musical force. Born under a bastard Queensland sun the band has progressed from a sense of tuneful isolation to having a full blooded cosmopolitan outlook. With an aesthetic oeuvre that draws upon literate rock and roll, vivid imagery and the trials of modern life the band takes stock of their landscape and returns it to the listener as sonic interpretations of the common story. Catchy hooks and psychedelic freak-outs are framed by lyrics with emotion that is as tangible as it is real. The five-piece band has recently started playing shows around Brisbane and has a record on the way, but the members themselves seem unhurried by the excitement and positive feedback they have generated, seeming more interested in continuing their musical journey to the heart of modern Australia.
