Gypsy King Jones serves up growling rhythmic blues that ranges from dirty and dangerous to sweet and sexy. His groove-based music is deeply influenced by Texas Country Blues, Delta, Hill Country, and the New Orleans scene all blended with an Australian swagger creating a sound of his own. GKJ is always a crowd favourite playing live around Melbourne and regional Victoria with a captivating show featuring dynamic guitar technique and storytelling that harks back to early bluesmen such as Lightnin' Hopkins & Snooks Eaglin. GKJ summons blues ghosts from a bygone era with performances reminiscent of southern delta juke joints. The new EP from GKJ, "I Came Here to Groove," is a raw, groove-heavy country blues burner, recorded straight to ½” analogue tape on a 1969 4-track. Cut live in the room, old-school style, it captures the unfiltered energy of musicians playing together, just like blues should be.
