I’m HARTCOLE, a 28-year-old First Nations punk artist from Whadjuk Noongar Boodya, with ties to Kaniyang Country and deep cultural connections to Kadaitcha law and spiritual traditions. My music is raw, rebellious, and unapologetically real—a fusion of punk, hip-hop, and my First Nations identity. I’m not here to fit into a box. I’m here to shake up the industry, push boundaries, and make music that hits deep. Music saved me. I turned to it at 13, after losing my mum, and it became my way of fighting back, of healing. By 16, I was Youth Ambassador for Birak Festival, and later worked with AIME, mentoring Indigenous youth. In 2023, I won Artist of the Year at the NAIDOC Perth Awards, and through Mushroom Group’s First Nations Pathway Program, I got to work alongside legends like Nooky and Emily Wurramara. I also co-created a book with WA Individualised Services (WAIS), sharing my story to empower Indigenous kids with disabilities—because this journey is about more than just me.
