Haz, The Man (the moniker of Harry Liston) is a YouTube sensation, and Moonee Valley football club supporter/member/ex player (and proud of it). But most of all he’s been a Wild At Heart member since 2020. Over the years, Harry has been crafting his unique hip hop style with Inkrewsive hip hop collective. Harry now storms onto the scene with his debut solo EP Caps Lock Bubble, a collection of hits dedicated to his love of Wild At Heart, improving on his art, footy, reality TV and advocating for human rights with his Inkrewsive comrades. EP opener, Big Brother, is a funky and slightly dark number about Harry’s love for any season of the hit reality TV show that includes Sonia Kruger. Deliberately bordering on obsession, the lyrics emphasise the grip that the drama had on both Australian culture and Harry’s childhood. Homework kickstarts the heart with a matter-of-fact checklist of Harry’s goals, complete with time-based stretch FX, classic scratches, and sparkly melodies. Topped off with Harry’s favourite sound effect; Fireworks. Common themes throughout the EP, include Harry’s a love for community, the challenges of being an artist with a disability and self-determination. Phil 2020 is a love letter to Wild At Heart during the tough Covid climate. Again, his objective perspective of events in his life permeate the narrative, expressing the highs and lows of that period through his selected samples, heavy beats and off-cuff rhythms. Final Shot, a high-caliber self-motivational track that expresses the duality of the working artist life and the importance of downtime. Through it all, Harry is here to say that whatever challenges lay ahead you can overcome them if you stay true to your goal. Quote from Harry Liston about the new EP: “This is only the beginning for me. I’ve got a lot more music to release and more stories to tell. I have a lot of passion projects that keep me inspired. And I have a strong drive to keep creating. It was my first time working with Sean Conan (music producer, which was the best. We get along well and he understands my sound.”
